Caring for cashmere garments

Here are some tips on how to keep our 100% cashmere T-shirts always looking new

Just a few simple tips are enough for you to take care of a cashmere clothing, thereby making it to always look new. In this article, we will give you suggestions and recommendations on how to properly maintain a fabric as valuable as cashmere.

Washing cashmere

T-shirts of 999cashmere are best dry-cleaned. Quality dry-cleaning ensures a long life to any type of cashmere and merino wool clothing, and it permits you remove any stains without damaging the fabric.

However, our T-shirts can also be washed in warm water, with a very delicate hand wash, which should restore freshness to your clothes without altering their softness.

Another recommendation for washing cashmere is with regards to the frequency with which it is washed. In fact, it is advisable to wash your shirt by hand in lukewarm water (max 30°C), after wearing it for a maximum of 2 or 3 times, using a special detergent (or better still, a neutral shampoo), and be sure to overturn the garment without rubbing and/or twisting it.

It is also recommended that you rinse the garment several times in warm water (30°C) without squeezing, so as to ensure that there is no trace of detergent on the fibers.

Drying and ironing cashmere

After washing the cashmere, as far as drying is concerned, it is advisable to place the cashmere garment on a flat surface, spreading the fabric on a dry towel, away from sunlight and direct sources of heat. Once dry, ironing could actually be avoided, but if you really want to iron it, be sure to iron the fabric backwards with a warm iron, setting the iron for wool and placing a damp cloth between the iron and the cashmere.

Once you pick up the T-shirt, lay it on a flat surface and with the iron’s plate, make contact with the fabric, spraying the steam evenly until the wrinkles on the fabric soften and completely smooth out. Once the ironing is completed, it is very important to let the sweater rest for at least 10 minutes so that it eliminates all the humidity produced by the steam during ironing. At this point, the cloth is ready.

If pilling (i.e. superficial pellets) should occur over time, it should be remembered that this is not a defect. They represent only the natural excess of fibers, and to eliminate them, simply use a brush before washing, and then clean the entire garment, removing all the small residual lumps by hand, or using the special cashmere comb.

Finally, it is recommended that you store your cashmere in a sealed closet during hot weather, using a mild moth repellent.

In producing our T-shirts, we sort the most precious cashmere, supplied to us by the best Italian spinning mills in the main textile districts.

The quality of the fiber we use, opaque and wavy, is also determined by the color of the raw material itself, which is available in different shades of brown, gray and white. A fiber that is whiter at the first stage of processing, the purest and most valuable, one that allows us to give life to luxuriously soft and durable garments.
